Dear colleague:
I am writing to share some important news with you.
The California Public Employment Relations Board (PERB), the state agency that oversees collective bargaining for public institutions, has notified UC that it will seek a court order on UC’s behalf to restrict the number of employees that may participate in AFSCME’s May 7-9 strike.
The court hearing will be held within the next day or two and we will let you know the court’s decision as soon as possible.
Even if your position is not covered by the court’s ruling, you are still allowed to come to work and we hope you will.
It is unfortunate that UC must take these kinds of steps, but we have an obligation to protect patients, students, and the communities that rely on UC for vital services.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your local labor relations office.
Sincerely,
Dwaine B. Duckett
Vice President
