Bargaining Update for UC Nurses

UC and CNA make progress on new contract for nurses

During their Aug. 22-23, UC and the California Nurses Association made progress toward a new contract for UC’s 14,000 nurses, with both sides demonstrating flexibility and a desire to conclude negotiations.

Encouraged by the progress being made, both sides believe negotiations should continue and agreed to meet again within the next several weeks.

During the Aug. 22-23 meeting, UC and CNA discussed a range of topics, including wages and step increases, health benefits, retirement benefits, and enhanced rights for per diem and floating nurses.

Retirement benefits for future nurses and wages for certain titles and locations remain issues that UC hopes to resolve with CNA at future bargaining sessions.
