Update on Labor Negotiations with AFSCME

Dear UCSF Community,

The University of California has reached a systemwide tentative agreement with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), representing Service and Patient Care Technical Units. As a result, AFSCME has withdrawn its notice of an open-ended strike scheduled to begin May 14.

At UCSF and UCSF Health, we are committed to providing a workplace that supports our employees across clinical care, research, and education. This tentative agreement with AFSCME reflects our shared commitment to our mission and the substantial progress we made in good-faith bargaining. Through constructive dialogue, we were able to reach a resolution that will provide meaningful increases in employee compensation and sustain the long-term future of our organization.

AFSCME-represented employees are a critical part of our organization, and we are grateful for the essential contributions they make in their many roles. We look forward to continuing to serve our communities and collaborating to advance our work in patient care, teaching, and discovery.

Sincerely,
